Recruiting
We need to grow our membership; this committee looks for ways to reach people who might like to join AVTA |
Business Partners
These businesses donate $100 a year for 10 years and are listed at trail heads as business partners; many businesses don't know about this opportunity to support AVTA. |
Maintenance
Keeping the trails open from fallen trees, clearing clogged drainage ditches, cutting grass and painting signs and bollards are ongoing chores; we especially need help on the southern end of the trail. |
Safety Patrol
While you're enjoying the trail, also be on patrol to help anyone in trouble. Carry a first-aid kit, pump and bike tubes, a cell phone, maps and AVTA membership so that you can provide information and assistance; volunteers from the southern end of the trail also are needed for this service; contact Chair Steve Schenck. |
SaltBox Visitor Center
We need people to staff the visitor center, to provide information and greet visitors. We also need people to help keep the visitor center in good repair. |
Publicity
AVTA hopes to increase its visibility in western Pennsylvania through local media and other means. |
Communication
AVTA sends out an annual newsletter and has a great website; but more can be done to communicate with our members, trail users and other constituencies; ideas include email alerts when there is special information, and e-newsletters more than once a year. |
Event Planning
AVTA sponsors group rides from time to time; we also conduct an annual meeting and an annual fundraising event. Help with these activities will be critical. As the length of the trail grows, multiple-day trips become possible and so more opportunity for AVTA-sponsored rides also grows. |
